Seinfeld Apartment Floor Plan: Jerry's 5A, Framed for Fans
Ask a fan to sketch the Seinfeld apartment floor plan from memory and most get further than you'd expect. The couch in the middle, the cereal in the kitchen, the bike on the wall, Kramer sliding in from across the hall. Jerry's Apartment 5A on the Upper West Side is one of the most familiar rooms on TV, and that's exactly why it works so well as a gift.
We make 3D floor plan frames, and Seinfeld: Apartment 5A is one of our fan-inspired designs. This post covers what the layout on the frame shows, who it suits as a present, and the practical things to know before you order one for someone (or for yourself).

The Seinfeld apartment floor plan, seen from above
On our frame the apartment is drawn from straight above, the way an architect would draw a real flat. The walls are laser-cut from pine and built up in layers, so they stand off the backing and catch a little shadow. The furniture is engraved into the floor.
Here's how it reads. The living room fills the middle, with the sofa facing the coffee table, an armchair to one side and a small round table with two chairs. The bedroom and the bathroom, tub included, run along the top. The front door sits on an angled wall, which is how most fans picture it. Our product page sums up the rest: every corner is there, from the bike on the wall to the cereal shelf in the kitchen.
Under the plan, the label reads Apartment 5A, 129 West 81st Street, New York, with Seinfeld in small script beneath it.
Jerry Seinfeld apartment layout: why fans still argue about it
Part of the fun of the Jerry Seinfeld apartment layout is that it was never a real apartment. It was a studio set, built for cameras and a live audience, and fans have spent years pointing out that the hallway outside Jerry's door could not fit inside a real building. Snopes even looked into it.
None of that matters on a wall. What people recognize is the shape of the place: where everyone sat, where the door was, where the neighbor came in without knocking. A floor plan captures that without a single photo of the cast. That's also why it looks at home in a living room and not only in a fan cave. Guests who never watched the show just see a good-looking wooden plan.

Is it a good Seinfeld housewarming gift?
We think so, for one simple reason. A housewarming gift has to belong in a home. A lot of Seinfeld gifts are mugs, T-shirts and novelty signs. They're fun, but they tend to end up in a drawer. A framed floor plan is decor first and a Seinfeld reference second.
It also tells a nice little story. Someone has just moved into a new place, and you're giving them one of the best-known New York apartments on television to put in it.
The frame is about 24 by 32.7 cm and 4.5 cm deep, and it weighs around 0.7 kg. As in the photo above, it stands up on its own on a shelf, desk or side table. That helps if they're renting and can't put holes in the walls yet.
Gifts for Seinfeld fans who already have the mug
With a long-time fan, the problem is usually that they already own the obvious things. A few ways to think about it:
- Choose one bigger piece over a bag of small merch. One thing for the wall or shelf tends to outlast five stocking fillers.
- Pick something for the home rather than something to wear. It gets seen every day, by them and by everyone who visits.
- Add a small, cheap extra. A box of their favorite cereal wrapped next to the frame is a nod to Jerry's kitchen shelf, and it makes the unwrapping more fun.
If they love more than one sitcom, our Iconic Shows collection has the Seinfeld frame alongside our Friends, The Office and The Big Bang Theory designs. They're all the same size and wood, so two can sit side by side on a shelf. For Friends fans in particular, we've written a separate guide to Friends housewarming gift ideas.
How it's made, and when to order
Every frame is made to order in Singapore. We laser-cut the pine, then assemble each frame by hand. It takes 3 to 5 days to make and arrives within about 10 days. We ship worldwide, and customs can add a few days in some countries.
So for a birthday, a housewarming or the holidays, order two to three weeks ahead if you can. If the date is close, email us at myhausframes@gmail.com before you order and we'll do what we can.
Or frame their own home instead
Some fans would rather see their own place on the wall than Jerry's. Our Signature 3D floor plan frame is made from the floor plan of a real home. You send us the plan as a JPG, PNG or PDF (hand-drawn plans are fine), and you approve a digital preview before anything is cut. It's a lovely gift for someone who has just bought a place, and there are more ideas in our guide to closing gift ideas for first-time home buyers. If it's parents leaving the house you grew up in, see our post on a gift for parents selling the family home.
